When you experience the love of God, you’ll quickly find that nothing else compares. If you’re searching for a love that is complete, everlasting, and perfect, you can be sure to find it in God. His love is so amazing and here are 5 reasons why:
Infinite
There’s an old hymn with a lyric that captures the infinity of God’s love.
“To write the love of God above / Would drain the ocean dry / Nor could the scroll contain the whole / Though stretched from sky to sky”
If the whole entire sky, was made out of paper, and the entire ocean made out of ink, We still wouldn’t be able to write our God’s love. The sky couldn’t contain it. The ocean would run dry.
God’s love is forever. It never ends. It never runs out. It never stops. There will never be a day you’ll wake up and find yourself without the love of God.
Jeremiah 31:3 (NLT) Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself.
Unconditional + Unmerited
There are many people who will only love you for what you have, or what you can give them. Not our God. His love is unconditional. There are no requirements to receive His love. It’s free for us.
We don’t have to pay. We give Him our love and devotion back, and even when we don’t, He still loves us. How awesome is He?
There is no earning or gaining the love of God. It is a gift.
Titus 3:4-5 (NLT) But— When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
Inseparable
Nothing. I mean nothing, can take the love of God from you. Not. even. Yourself. He loves you, has always loved you, will always love you. And there’s nothing any person, thing, situation, or distance can do about it. (And that’s on? Period.)
Romans 8:38 (NLT) And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
Powerful
Now the power of God’s love. Whew. Girl, just thinking about it is powerful. The love of God is the most powerful thing you will experience. It has the power to reach places nothing else can reach. To change things nothing else can. It can:
- Drives out fear (1 John 4:18)
- Covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8)
- Binds everything in perfect harmony ( Colossians 3:14 )
And a whole bunch of other things. The list is endless.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NLT) Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
Unchanging
The most beautiful thing: How he loves will never change. Who he loves will never change. It remains the same. Forever. What is more amazing, more comforting than that?
Psalms 136:26 (NLT) Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.
